A New Approach to Urban Resiliency

The River Ring Waterfront Master Plan is a groundbreaking development on the Williamsburg waterfront that will create a new model for urban waterfront resiliency and transform the way New Yorkers interact with the water. River Ring responds to long-standing community plans and real-time community feedback by repurposing a former industrial site for much-needed housing and completing a continuous public waterfront in North Brooklyn.

The plan is anchored by a first-of-its-kind protected public beach and in-water park that will also insulate the inland community from flooding. And at a time when New York needs private investment, River Ring will deliver massive public infrastructure and economic benefits without public tax dollars.

More About the Project

Job Creation

The River Ring Waterfront Master Plan will generate approximately 2,000 construction jobs and more than 500 well-paying permanent jobs including building service workers, park employees, YMCA and community facility employees and retail employees.

At Domino, Two Trees has worked closely with St. Nick's Alliance to provide training and construction job opportunities, placing over 100 workers from the surrounding area into permanent jobs. Two Trees is dedicated to exploring a similar arrangement for River Ring for construction jobs, park jobs, as well as retail and community facility jobs.

Green Infrastructure

Two Trees is committed to leading the renewable transformation in Brooklyn by instituting industry-leading infrastructure practices across the site:

Microgrid: The River Ring Waterfront Master Plan is being designed to integrate a cutting edge microgrid system for the large mixed-use complex. It will mitigate demand from the overtaxed Con Edison system and will offload excess power to neighboring facilities and buildings, serving as a backup energy source for the community in case of a power outage.

Wastewater Reuse: Like the Domino site, River Ring will apply to be part of the Department of Environmental Protection’s District Water Reuse Pilot Program. This water reuse system will capture and purify wastewater from the site’s buildings and park infrastructure, making efficient use of the municipal water supply and dramatically reducing discharge to the combined sewage network.
